Spine Surgery
Disc Prolapse, Spinal Stenosis and Spondylosis are common painful diseases which can make daily life miserable.  Congenital and developmental disorders, scoliosis, fractures, tumours and infections are less common but very distressing spinal diseases.  Our specialized spinal unit uses surgical and deformity correction techniques with use of minimally access techniques, endoscopic surgery, percutaneous vertabroplasty, artificial disc and fusion procedures with modern implants and image guidance methods to facilitate early recovery during short hospital stay.

Sport Injuries
With increase in sports and fitness related exercises, subtle joint injuries especially muscle ruptures, ligament strains and cartilage injuries of ankle, shoulder and knee have become common and permanent joint damage and prolonged pain and inability to pursue sporting activity and exercise programmes occurs if such injuries are missed, not cared for and inadequately treated.  Modern orthopaedics puts great emphasis on recognition and treatment of these difficult to assess joint damage.  Experienced orthopaedic surgeons with training in sport injuries are ready to take care of your problems at our hospital.

Arthroscopic Surgery
Arthroscopic or Keyhole surgery of knee and shoulder joints to decompress painful degenerated joint, stabilize recurrent shoulder dislocation, repair cartilage, and ligament tears has become new Primus standard of care.  These modern techniques allow day care surgery in majority of cases while giving long lasting and permanent relief of symptoms and even allow resumption of sporting activities in many instances.  Full range of arthroscopic surgery with modern and latest equipment and materials is provided by our experienced arthroscopic surgeons.

Fractures & Traumatology
Fractures are becoming more complex, multiple and complicated with increase in accidents on and off the roads and in industries.  Now a days large number of newer implants of biocompatible steel and titanium, variety of nails and plates, locking plates and minimally invasive operative techniques with use of image guidance using fluoroscopy are available.  Fractures involving joint surface are technically demanding for adequate management and often arthroscopic assisted surgery is required for proper treatment.  Such methods of treatment of fractures ensure complete and rapid recovery and early return to work and independence in daily activities. Our experienced trauma surgeons will use these advanced techniques in fully equipped operation theatres to mend fracture bones.

Hand Surgery
Hand surgery which includes treatment of fractures, crush injuries, arthritic joints, paralytic conditions, has become an important speciality. Hand affections need expert care and rehabilitation methods to restore hand function and this is not yet generally available in many centers. Our hospital has internationally trained hand surgeons who use all the modern effective methods to achieve best possible recovery from hand injuries and disorders in shortest possible time.

Minimally Invasive surgeries (minimal Access Surgery)
Laproscopic Surgery, also known by the names of 'keyhole surgery', 'buttonhole surgery', ' minimally invasive surgery' and 'minimally access surgery' refers to the performance of surgical procedures with the help of a video camera. During the procedure, small incisions of up to half an inch are made in the abdomen and then the camera and other surgical instruments inserted. And while viewing the images of an organ transmitted by the camera onto a TV monitor, the surgeon performs the surgery.
Laproscopic Surgery has been accepted around the world because it is patient friendly. It causes little post-operative discomfort since the incisions are small, and the patient makes a quicker recovery and faster return to the normal life. Cost-wise too, it is preferred because of the shorter duration of hospital stay.

Bariatric Surgery
WHAT IS BARIATRIC SURGERY?
This pertains to a group of surgeries that are performed to induce long term weight loss along with treating health problems like diabetes, blood pressure, arthritis etc.
IS IT THE SAME AS LIPOSUCTION?
No, liposuction is a cosmetic surgery where a few kilograms of fat are removed by a suction process. It is mainly used for contouring the body, in areas like the waistline or thigh which are areas prone to accumulation of fat. Liposuction does not help in case of morbid obesity or treating related medical problems.
HOW IS BARIATRIC SURGERY DONE?
It can be performed through both open and laparoscopic procedures. laparoscopic procedures are done through small incisions and therefore have the advantage of being associated with less pain, faster recovery and fewer wound complications.
WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF BARIATRIC SURGERY?
·         Average of 60-70% of excess body weight loss one year after surgery.
·         Studies show that after 10-14years, patients have Maintained 60% of excess body weight loss.
·         80-90% cure or improvement of certain associated health conditions like high blood pressure, type2 diabetes, sleep apnoea, polycystic ovaries and joint pains.
·         Patients report an early sense at of fullness, combined with a sense of satisfaction, that reduces the desire to eat.

WHAT ARE THE TYPES OF BARIATRIC SURGERY PERFORMED?
·         Sleeve gastroectomy
·         Roun-en-y gastric bypass
·         D.J bypass
·         Biliopancreatic diversions

IMPORTANT CONSIDERATION FOR ALL WEIGHT LOSS SURGERIES
·         Surgery is considered when all others options of weightloss have failed.
·         It requires a complete assessment at risk and benefit and meticulous performance of the appropriate surgical procedure.
·         The success of weight loss surgery depends on long term lifestyle changes and behavior modification.
·         In a survey of 10,000 patients the mortality rate for weight loss surgery was 0.3%.
·         In 1-2% of patient problems may arise after surgery that may require re-operation.

HOW DOES BARIATRIC SURGERY HELP TO REDUCE EXCESS WEIGHT?
The surgery helps by:
·         Restricting or reducing the amount of food that one can eat.
·         Restricting the absorption of the food that one eats.
·         Combining restrictive as well as absorption techniques.

Sophisticated Operation Theatre Complex : Primus International Super Speciality Hospital  has 2 state of the art modular  Major Operation Theatres (O.T.) besides 2 minor OT. These OT’S are designed as per international standards equipped with specialized electrically operated tables, operating lights, anesthesia machines and Laminar air flow technique. Endovascular Neurosurgery
Endovascular Neurosurgery is performed for the following conditions:
Intracranial Aneurysms - Aneurysms are focal swelling of blood vessels, which can burst and cause bleeding in the brain. Endovascular coiling can treat these aneurysms, thus avoiding open surgery.
Angioplasty or Stent Placement - This procedure is done to treat stenosis in arteries of brain (including carotid, vertebral, intracranial arteries). Many cases of stroke occur due to stenosis (narrowing) in arteries leading to the brain. They can be treated non-invasively by endovascular route with an angioplasty or stenting procedure.
Stroke or Brain Attack, including intra-arterial thrombolysis - Acute stroke or brain attack usually occurs due to blockage of arteries of the brain. Appropriate patients can be treated by placing a micro catheter at the site of blockage followed by administration of thrombolytic drugs, which dissolve the blocking material.
Arteriovenous Malformation - Arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) of the brain are malformed blood vessels, which can cause intracranial bleeding (bleeding in brain), seizures and headache. AVMs can be treated by injecting "glue" through a microcatheter placed precisely into these abnormal blood vessels.
Tumour Embolisation - One of the major problems in surgical removal of intracranial tumour is bleeding during the surgery. Interventional neuroradiologist can help the surgeon by pre-operative endovascular occlusion of the blood vessels supplying the tumour. This will reduce the bleeding and facilitate the surgery.
Cerebral or Spinal Angiography - DSA (digital subtraction angiography) is considered as the 'gold standard' investigation to diagnose diseases of blood vessels.
Vertebroplasty - With age bones become weak and collapse of bones in the spine (vertebrae) is one of the major causes of severe back pain in the elderly. Vertebroplasty is a revolutionary treatment in which "bone cement" is injected through a needle placed into the broken bone so as to stabilize the vertebra and to reduce the pain.
Percutaneous Sclerotherapy - Many superficial vascular malformations such as haemangioma (malformation of blood vessels) or lymphangiomas (malformation of lymphs) can be treated by puncturing through a needle, followed by injection of "sclerosant material" which causes obliteration of the malformation.
